It's a long term preventative agent.'You can get gels and creams in your local pharmacy and in larger supermarkets.'It's important to know that you need to apply these all over the areas of your skin that are affected by acne, not just to the separate acne spots, in order to prevent new acne developing.'Also as this type of treatment exfoliates (lightly peels) the skin, it can cause mild dryness that can be managed with a light moisturiser.'For some women, a hormonal treatment (like the contraceptive pill) can help to control acne, and other people may be prescribed oral antibiotics or retinoids.Firstly, she would recommend that everyone takes a daily multivitamin.'If you're taking [vitamins] internally as well as on the skin, topically, you're coming at the problem from both angles,' she says, recommending vitamins A, C and E in particular.She also stresses that dehydration is a problem many people have without realising it, stating that around 90% of the clinic's clients have dehydrated skin, and that often fine lines are simply a sign of dehydration rather than age.'Drinking lots of water is going to be important for your skin, hydrating it internally, but also externally,' Stephanie says.'Hyaluronic acid is found in a lot of our skincare products, it's also naturally found in your skin.
